Below are the instructions that will be sent to your mentor:
This type of support can make a significant difference to a student, and we greatly appreciate your willingness to commit both time and effort to supporting your student. Study is often demanding, particularly when combined with personal, family and ministry responsibilities. Your regular support and encouragement is one of the keys to their success.
We suggest intentionally meeting with the student a minimum of 3 or 4 times over the Semester. How long you take to meet with the student is really between you and the student. Some students may need an hour to go through the issues they are facing, whereas others may just need you to ask how they are going either by text, email or in passing at church.
We suggest that each time you meet you check 1/ are they keeping up with their studies 2/ are they understanding the content 3/ are they having any issues. If you are able to help proof read their assessments before they submit them, that would be very helpful.
Please encourage your student/s to contact Student Services (regarding Moodle or administration) or their lecturer (regarding content of the course) if they are having any difficulty. The earlier we are aware of any issues, the easier it is to provide additional support or consideration for a student experiencing difficulty.
We would also encourage you to call or email us any time, if you have any questions or need assistance with anything. I've attached a form that you can send to the college, if the student is having issues that need to be addressed and communicated to the college.
